We have had a wonderfully busy May jam-packed with weddings and other events, but I get to take a couple days off to celebrate a happy event of a different sort. My step-daughter, Stephanie, graduates from college this weekend. So, Chris and I are driving to Rochester, New Yorkâabout seven and a half hours north!âto celebrate in the big day.
Steph is graduating from the Rochester Institute of Technology with a degree in criminal justice. Earlier in the week, she was chosen as the department’s outstanding student of the year. Of course, we’re super proud of her!
I think of all the weddings I get to help pull together for people. Itâs easily one of the biggest days of a personâs life. Chris likes to say Iâm in the business of making people happy. That makes my job a real privilege.
But college graduation! Thatâs another big one, for sure.
Itâs nice to be part of this event as a participant rather than an organizer. I know, in the background, there will be a busy team of people making things happen. In the meantime, Chris and I get to cheer on Steph as proud parents.
